The general public has the impression that using e-cigarettes (vaping) is less harmful to health than regular smoking. Nothing is less true!
New figures from the Trimbos Institute (NL) are alarming: nearly as many young people vape as smoke. No fewer than 22% of Dutch youth and young adults (12 to 25 years) have used an e-cigarette in the past year.
Nearly a third (27%) have smoked cigarettes. And 69% of young people who use an e-cigarette monthly also smoke cigarettes monthly, which is just as unhealthy as smoking only cigarettes. These figures come from the new Youth Monitor Tobacco and Nicotine Products from the Trimbos Institute.
In short: the smoke-free generation is further away than ever!
