Dr. Marcel Veltkamp has joined the ild care foundation Board of Directors in 2019.
The board of directors of the ild care foundation is very pleased to announce that dr. Marcel Veltkamp (1976) is coming to strengthen them.
After studying Medical Biology and Medicine, he was trained as a pulmonologist at the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein. During this period, his interest in interstitial lung disease (ILD) arose, instigated by his trainer, Prof. Jules van den Bosch. During his PhD research, he investigated the role of the immune system in the development and course of sarcoidosis.
He is also involved in various scientific projects in the field of sarcoidosis, pulmonary fibrosis and Pulmonary Alveolar Proteinosis (PAP) and a member of the board of the WASOG, the world organization for sarcoidosis and other ILD.
He finds the combination of patient care and scientific research very fascinating. “Daily contact with patients ensures a continuous ambition to constantly improve care,” says Veltkamp. He is married, has 3 children and, besides his work and family, enjoys running, mountain biking and cycling.
The ild care foundation board is therefore looking forward to a pleasant cooperation with the aim of raising awareness of ILD. Marcel is a huge asset with an eye on the future!
